Shipley, from Knoxville, Tennessee, attended Hardin Valley Academy before coming to Pellissippi State. Griffen is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. His golf achievements include multiple top ten, top five, and first place tournament finishes; he advanced to state regional as an individual as a junior, and the team as a senior, and played every match from freshman through senior year. Shipley is interested in Robotics. He is the son of Barbara Shipley and his favorite athlete is Harold Varner.
