Coach Erika Waycaster Announces Hiring of New Assistant Coach
Knoxville, TN - Casey Hencken has been hired as the new women's volleyball assistant coach, head coach Erika Waycaster announced.
Hencken played volleyball at King University from 2012 to 2016 as a setter/defensive specialist, and she also served as a graduate assistant in that program from 2016-2017, graduating with her MBA.
"The addition of Coach Casey Hencken this fall has elevated our gym," Waycaster said. "Her energy and desire to see the girls thrive and grow every day have pushed this team to new limits. Her knowledge of the game will keep elevating us and help us continue to build the foundation we are looking to grow every opportunity we get to touch a ball."
Coach Hencken feels an elevated ability to connect with the players, having been in their shoes before;
"I know the challenges of being a student-athlete, and I'm happy I can be a part of a coaching staff that wants to pour into these girls so they can grow to be the best version of themselves both on the court and in the classroom." She said. " I've known Coach Erika since high school; we've played against each other and as teammates. I know what she values in the game, and I can complement what she is working to create in a program here at Pellissippi. I'm excited to join the Pellissippi Women's Volleyball program for its second year!"
The Pellissippi State volleyball team can be followed on social media @PSCCvball. Their next match is Tuesday, September 15th at Cleveland State at 6:30 PM.
