Sade Lee Lifts Panthers to Victory Over Chargers in Last Seconds
Columbia, TN - Star forward Sade Lee scored with 15 seconds left in the match to lift Pellissippi State to victory over #25 Columbia State 1-0.
As the clock was ticking down in Columbia, the game was knotted up at 0-0 after an incredibly hard-fought match. Both teams were taking their shots and being aggressive, but both goalkeepers were on their top performances. A combined 10 saves between the Chargers and Panthers ensured the game would stay scoreless until the last seconds. With 20 seconds left, Sade Lee got the ball in the middle of Columbia State's territory on an assist from Lauren Lemmo and kicked a rainbow shot from outside the box that snuck in over the head of the Charger's goalkeeper and secured the last-second victory for the Panthers, which also is their first shutout in conference play.
"We showed a lot of grit. It was such a collective effort from the entire group." Coach Mariana Diaz Said. "Everyone played such a pivotal role on and off the field. Playing a very good team in a very competitive environment, we showed great character. Big clean sheet, it's massive for us. Sameera came up big in big moments. We are so happy to come home with three points. The girls put in a shift. I am super proud of the group."
The win over Columbia State puts the Panthers in second place in the conference behind #19 ranked Motlow State, who just happens to be the next opponent on Pellissippi State's schedule on October 4th. The game will take place at Motlow at 4:00 PM.
