Knoxville, TN - Pellissippi State women's soccer wins their first match in program history.
The Panthers scored 3 first-half goals on their way to winning their first match of the season, and in program history. The match seemed to be heading for a blowout victory, but Tennessee Wesleyan fought their way back in the second half. Thanks to three heroic saves on the part of the Panthers goalkeepers, they were able to fend off the comeback by the Bulldogs and secure the win.
Scoring the three goals for the Panthers were Sade Lee (2) and Isabella Altorfer (1).
This first victory for the Pellissippi State women's soccer team will have historic significance and go down as the start of the winning tradition coach Mariana Diaz Lopez hopes to establish going forward. Not only was this the first victory for the Panthers, but it was also Coach Lopez's first career victory. Isabella Altorfer notched her name in the record books for scoring the first goal in team history as well.
The Panther's next match comes on Monday, August 28th at Lindsey Wilson College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
