The scene in Knoxville on Thursday afternoon was electric as #PanterNation was eager to get to see the first match in Pellissippi Women's Soccer history. The energy was felt by the team and helped them grind out a tough matchup with nationally ranked ITAWAMBA from Mississippi. The Panthers fell short, 0-2, but never gave up or looked back and kept fighting till the clock struck 0:00. Both teams accrued 2 yellow cards each, all by different players.
ITAWAMBA star Julia Benneckenstein scored both goals for the Indians, on two shots. The first goal came at 26:00 left in the first period, and the second came with 15:00 left in the second.
