Second-half rally lifts Panthers over Buffalos
Elizabethton, TN - Pellissippi State secured their 6th victory of the year on Wednesday night, defeating Milligan University 2-1.
Both goals came in the second half of the match, thanks to contributions from Sadibou Seck (assisted by Felipe) and Felipe Coehlo (assisted by Ruben Cardoza).
"We weren't at our best tonight, but we ground out a gritty performance to get the win". Coach Scott said. "There were moments where we should have comfortably put ourselves in the driver's seat and controlled the match, but Milligan worked hard and we just weren't sharp enough ar times which resulted in the scrappy performance."
"We now turn our focus to Saturday and making sure we train well over the next couple of days to help us prepare for a big matchup against a nationally ranked NJCAA opponent in #18 Georgia Military College"
The Panthers are set to take on #18 GMC this Saturday at 5:00 PM at Karns High School. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, with GMC pulling out victory in the first match 3-2 in a tightly contested matchup that would prove to benefit the Panthers and help them prepare for tough matchups in future matches. Georgia Military College is 8-4-1 on the season, averaging 3 goals/ game and giving up an average of 2 goals/game. The matchup seems to favor The Panthers, who are averaging 5 goals/game and giving up 1.5 goals/game.
