Late Goals Prevent Panthers From Victory in Martinsville
Martinsville, VA - The Panthers fought hard to the very end but couldn't strike back against Patrick and Henry's late goals on Wednesday Night. The Patriots scored goals in the 66th and 72nd minutes to take a 2-0 lead, and never looked back from it. The game was definitely hard fought, with a combined six yellow cards being given (three by each team).
"We really needed this game, the intensity, and quality on display was exactly what we needed for our growth and development as we build our program," Coach Josh Scott said. "We were Intense in the first half and showed we can find another level and gear when needed, unfortunately, the intensity and physicality took their toll on us and we couldn't sustain the level needed defensively to keep a clean sheet"
As the Panthers look forward to their upcoming slate of games, Coach Scott is proud of his team's effort and progress as a unit. "Today we took a step forward as a program, we played a very talented team with lots of good ideas, I'd say we matched them and were on top for 60 minutes, but we ran out of gas and credit to them for capitalizing".
The Panthers are next in action on October 4th at Milligan University at 7:00 p.m.
