Bio

Jones was a standout player at Alcoa High School from 1997-2001, earning 1st Team All-State. He then went on to play for two years at Junior College Hiwassee College from 2001-2003 in Madisonville, TN and then finished his college career at Ferrum College in Virginia. He led both schools in assists. 

Darrian began his coaching career at his Alma Mater Hiwassee College in 2007 as an assistant on both the men’s and women’s teams, and then was promoted to head coach in 2008, where he stayed until 2011. His team finished the 2010 season ranked #6 in the nation and appeared in the USCAA National Tournament. Jones was hired at Walters State as an assistant coach in 2011 where he spent the next 12 years assisting Coach Carlyle while he surpassed 1000 career victories, and reached 3 NJCAA National Tournaments. Coach Jones spent the last year at Tennessee Wesleyan as an assistant coach. 

Some of Coach Jones’ many accomplishments over his coaching career include 34 first and second-team all-conference student-athletes, 5 NJCAA All-Americans, a 1000-point scorer, 13 Division 1 signees, 11 Division 2 signees, 5 professional players, and 8 NJCAA Academic All-Americans. His record at Walters State as an assistant coach was 221-137.
