Men' and Women's Basketball Off to Hot Start
Through one and a half weeks of basketball competition, both teams have show impressive outings and improvement each game. Men's basketball is 4-1 and 1-0 in conference play, with wins over Johnson University JV, Cleveland Community College, Dyersburg State, and Tennessee Wesleyan JV. The team is averaging 80.2 ppg, 47% from the field, 33.8 from three, and 18.4 assists/game. The leading scorer for the team is Tavion Pride with 96 points through 5 games and is averaging 60% from three point range.
On the women's side, the team is 3-1 and 1-0 in conference play with wins over Johnson University JV, Cleveland Community College, and Dyersburg State. The team is starting to form into shape and is getting better with every shot. Autumn Crick is the leading scorer for the team with 44 points scored in 4 games, and is shooting 46% from three point range. Alice Meunier is the leading rebounder and is also leading in assists. The grit of this women's team is impressive and they have no quit in them, as seen in their gritty come-from-behind overtime win against Dyersburg State.
The teams are set to take on conference opponent Motlow State tomorrow night (11/13) at 5:30 and 7:30 PM for Military Appreciation Night at the Student Rec Center. As always, attendance is free and for this game, all attendees will receive a free wristband for Military Appreciation Night. All current and former member of the military will receive a free t-shirt and be recognized before and at halftime of the game.
