Pellissippi State Golf Team Climbs National Rankings After Strong Performance at Atomic City Classic

Oak Ridge, TN – The Pellissippi State Community College Men's Golf Team made a remarkable impact at the recent Atomic City Classic held at Oak Ridge Country Club, hosted by Roane State Community College. Competing against a strong field of NJCAA Division II teams from October 21-22, 2024, Pellissippi State's perseverance and growth were on full display, leading to an impressive overall team performance and significant individual achievements.
The team finished 8th overall, with a total score of +43, improving their performance in the second round, moving from +26 in Round 1 to +17 in Round 2. Head Coach Andrews praised the team's ability to adapt and grow during the tournament, stating, "We are proud of how our athletes stayed resilient and fought to improve throughout the competition. Their hard work is beginning to pay off."
Kevin Campbell led the charge for Pellissippi State, delivering a standout performance that saw him finish tied for 5th place individually with a total score of E (even par). Campbell's consistency was a key highlight, as he posted +2 in the first round but came back strong with a stellar -2 in the second round. His efforts placed him among the tournament's top finishers and showcased his potential for future success.
As a result of their determination and steady improvement, Pellissippi State's golf team has risen in the national rankings. The team has climbed to #46 in the NJCAA Division II rankings, a testament to their progress and competitive spirit.
